Efficient Pet Hunting Guide

This text guide highlights the most efficient order in which you can obtain pets. It assumes that you are starting your pet journey with 0 pets and no bank. For example, as Twisted Bow is the most effective weapon used for hunting KBD pet it is assumed you will not hunt this pet until you can afford one.

While it is unlikely you will follow this guide to the tee (many people already have some pets prior to committing to pet hunting), it may still offer some guidance on how you can most efficiently choose what pets to grind next.

If you would like some further advice on this, feel free to ask any of the Admins. For more details on how to efficiently hunt a specific pet please check the appropriate pet guide.

Alt Considerations
Many bosses require an alt account in order to improve kills/hr. It is highly recommended that, if you do not already own one, that you passively train one up whilst hunting for the early pets. The following stats are recommended;

• 90 Attack, Strength and Defence
• 90 Ranged
• 99 Hitpoints (For the passive Health regen from Hitpoints Cape)
• 94 Magic (Heal Other + Energy Transfer + Pot Share + Vengeance spells)
• 77 Prayer (For Piety/Rigour and Augury)
• 82 Construction (House pool + Fairy ring + Jewellery Box)

The following may also be useful;
• High Farming level and 90 Herblore for CoX prep.
• High Quest Points for access to BIS gear (Barrows Gloves, Accumulator, Ferocious Gloves etc.).
• A 2nd and 3rd alt account with similar stats for advanced methods (for methods such as 1+2/1+3 gwd, 1+3 dks & Corp Boosting).
• A resupply alt with minimal stats for advanced 1+3 methods.

Useful Untradable Items;

Any-Time Pets

Heron
Golem
Beaver
Squirrel
Rocky
Chompy
Phoenix
Tiny Tempor

These pets do not require any gp to achieve maximum pet rates, nor do they generate any significant gp to aid in other pet grinds. As a result, these pets can be obtained at any point. Many of these pets have afkable options which grant a good opportunity to start working on an alt account.

Note: If you are NOT 99 Hunter and have neither the Baby Chinchompa or Herbiboar pet it is recommended you grind for Herbiboar first as its speed is not dependent on Hunter lvl.

Wilderness PetsCallisto:callisto:
Chaos Elemental:chaos:
Venenatis:vene:
Vet’ion:vetion:
Scorpia:scorp:

Wilderness pets are some of the best boss pet grinds to do early on due to the low gear requirement. From here it is advised that your alt is prepared as most boss methods require an alt from this point forward.

Notes:
• Another option is to only grind for wilderness pets when the worlds are quieter.
• Lowest Concurrent number of players online generally occurs between 05:00 – 11:00 GMT (UTC).
• Jagex PVP-based Tournaments may result in fewer active pkers within the wilderness.
• Total Level Worlds such as 2.2k tend to have fewer active pkers.

The Slayer Grind
Slayer pets are ideal pets to follow wilderness pets as they don’t require as much gear as raids/nightmare and aren’t as boostable as other bosses (such as Corp and GWD).

• If 1-2b was not made from previous pets: Vorkath
• All Slayer pets should be done in unison to minimise time Turael skipping.
• Many non-slayer pets can also be sped up doing them on task.
• When only a few slayer pets are left it is recommend you Turael skip.
• In general it is best to use Duradel for the slayer set. It is therefore highly recommended that you Turael skip for Alchemical Hydra as Konar is not worth using at all.
• After obtaining Skotos it is no longer worth doing regular slayer. Catacomb tasks take up a large amount of time and it is therefore recommended you Turael skip to maximise time spent doing pet tasks.
• Doing Inferno tasks should take priority over Jad tasks until Nibbler is obtained.

Any-Time Boss Pets
The following pets can be done whenever, however have a minimum gear requirement to them.

Commander Zilyana ( If doing 1+3)
Corporeal Beast (Only needed if doing 4+3)
General Graador (Additional if doing 4+4)
Giant Mole
King Black Dragon
Penance Queen
Sarachnis
Vorkath
Zulrah

Raids, Nightmare and Nex
The following pets require pretty much max gear in order to complete efficiently.
• For maximum efficiency it is advised you wait until you can afford max gear before going for these pets.
• It is recommended you do Challenge Mode Raids for Olmlet until the Metamorphic Dust is received. Once received you can go back to higher point/hr methods (assuming you are not interested in completionist content such as the CM kc capes).

Olmlet (CoX) ( also used for some CM roles)
Lil Zik (TOB)
Nightmare
Nex

Boostable Pets
Many pets can greatly benefit from boosting methods (i.e: Paying other players to assist with more accounts) to increase kills p/h. If you plan on using excess gp gained from other pet grinds to fund these boosting methods it is recommended you leave these pets until last.

• Max gear recommended for these pet grinds.
• If you don’t intend to use boosters these pets can be done whenever the required gear is obtained.
• As these methods involve the help of boosters, it may be worth leaving some Any Time Pets to work on while waiting for boosters to become available.

Commonly Boosted Pets:
General Graador
Callisto
Corporeal Beast
Kalphite Queen
Kr’il Tsutsaroth
Rift Guardian (See skilling-pets for more info)

Note: The above list of boostable pets is not an exhaustive list, many more pets can be boosted in some way if you are willing to pay enough.

Passive Pets
These pets can be obtained passively throughout your pet hunting.

• Master Clues can be obtained at close to 0 time through the buying of implings (8-10m gp p/master clue as of 1st June 2021).
• It is not recommended you do this until all other pet elite clue sources have been exhausted.
• On average you will receive 938 Elite Clue Scrolls from Boss Pet Hunts.
• If you have exhausted all sources of passive Elite Clues and have no gp to fund master clues consider Pet Boosting for gp. For example: Boosting Corp can make you in excess of 30m gp ph which equates to ~4 master clues, considerably better than any other active elite clue hunting method.
