Tempoross Fishing Boss (OSRS)

Hi, I decided to make a quick text guide for Tempoross! It’s a chill boss with decent fishing XP and balanced rewards. I made this as I prefer reading text than videos so hopefully there are others out there who would find this useful.

It’s basically Wintertodt on the beach, but instead of constant damage, your Bruma Roots and Kindling can be completely wiped away if you don’t check your screen every 5 seconds 🙂

Getting there:

Tele to Al-kharid, then head south-west of the bank along the dock. Travel-ferry by Ferryman Sathwood to the Ruins, and climb up the boat to start the minigame.

Doing it on official Tempoross Worlds reduces the chance of failing a round. US is World 422, EU is World 463, UK is World 341, AUS is World 531.

Gear and Inventory:

Angler Outfit would be best here, run energy is not required so Graceful isn’t needed. There’s not much to damage you here, so food isn’t required. Rada’s Blessing does not seem to work here, but I’m not too sure.

Crystal Harpoon is best for XP since you can get crystalized Harpoonfish, and Infernal Harpoon is best for points since it gives you cooked Harpoonfish for more points. Normal Harpoon works and is provided on the ship.

Bring along a hammer, bucket of water, and rope, which are all provided on the ship, but you can bring them in case.

Objective:

The main objective of the game is to fish Harpoonfish, and feed them to the cannons on the ship to shoot at Tempoross. Reduce its Energy to 0% by firing Harpoon Fish at it before Storm Intensity reaches 100%. Reduce its Essence to 0% upon depleting its Energy. This can repeat for several phases.

Mechanics:

Tempoross can do three things to mess with you:

  1. Surf: You will get a game message that ‘A colossal wave closes in…‘ You need a rope to avoid this attack. Click on the pole on the beach, or the mast on the ship to tether yourself, before you get swept away. If you are caught between them, just run to whichever you are closer to, the attack takes quite a few ticks so you can make it most of the time. Don’t spam click the mast or pole or you will untether yourself before the wave is over.
  2. Lightning clouds: These grey dookies can set places on fire, and you need to douse them with your bucket of water. Stepping on these would wreck your tools and fishes in your inventory, so try your hardest not to step through them. Lightning doesn’t strike instantly, the clouds get bigger and the ground shows a shadow.
  3. Torrent Attack: Just disables your cannon, doesn’t harm your supplies or anything.

TLDR: Click the pole or mast if your screen turns blue, and don’t step on the fire!!!!!!!!!!

Gameplay:

  1. Once the minigame starts, run along the anchor to the closest fishing spot and start fishing.
  2. Upon getting a full inventory, you can either cook them on the shrine for points or run back up the ship. Usually a wave comes in shortly after you finish fishing your first inventory.
  3. On the ship, click the Ammunition Crates to launch your fishes at Tempoross.
  4. Upon its Energy reaching 0%, head to the harbor and get ready to fish at the spot right in front of you.
  5. Its Energy will quickly increase back to 100% as you and your fellow fishers reduce its Essence, but usually you wouldn’t be able to drop its Essence to zero the first time you deplete its Energy, as the latter recovers at a faster rate.
  6. Once its Energy reaches 100%, the whole cycle repeats as you do step 1 to 5 until its Essence reaches zero.
  7. Upon killing Tempoross, leave via the dancing NPC.

Tips:

  1. Cook (no burn chance) for points or use raw Harpoonfish for xp, similar to fletching or not in Wintertodt.
  2. Spots with jumping Harpoonfishes have a chance of double fishes! However, they are not 100% up-time so you can cook while waiting for it to spawn.
  3. You can still continue shooting Harpoonfishes for points and xp even if Energy reaches zero, so you won’t have to waste all your Harpoonfish if you miscalculated the time left.
  4. If you are aiming for points, you can start by fishing ~8 Harpoonfishes, then cook them until the jumping fishing spot spawns. This way you can spend less time fishing on the normal spots.

Rewards:

You have to reach 2000 points to qualify for loot rolls, which is easily achievable with 2 inventories of raw Harpoonfish or one inventory of cooked Harpoonfish. There is a 8k point limit if you are stockpiling loot,

I have gotten ~55k xp/h at level 90 Fishing, averaging at 4.5k points and 5 loot rolls per game where I cooked all fishes while using an Infernal Harpoon.

Your loot can be fished with a Small Fishing Net right beside the dock where the game starts, and the loot rolls can be saved up. There are some decent rewards, but I won’t elaborate on them here. More info on the rewards can be seen here:

1200 spirit flakes are needed per piece of Angler for the Spirit Angler Outfit.

Have fun at Tempoross, hope this guide helps!
