What is RuneFest?

RuneFest is a real-life celebration of all things RuneScape! It’s the ultimate IRL Gielinor-themed gathering, where thousands of players come together to share the love.

If you haven’t been to one before, here are some things you can expect from RuneFest:

    • A more traditional RuneFest-y Saturday with a focus on the stage.
    • Sunday dedicated to the community and panels.
  • It’s a separate event within Insomnia Gaming Festival.
  • New Community Zone.
  • Tournaments.
  • Cool new RuneScape products like our TTRPG, Board Game and more!
  • A RuneFest camping area so you can stay overnight within the NEC.

Also if you want to be kept up to date with the latest RuneFest information you can sign up to the mailing list here.

What is Insomnia Gaming Festival?

To help us bring RuneFest back for the first time in five years, we’re partnering with Insomnia!

Insomnia will bring their 20 years of events experience to help us deliver an amazing RuneFest – with Jagex still deeply involved to make sure everything is suitably ‘Scapey.’

From its beginnings back in 1999 as a LAN party, Insomnia has always been about gamers coming together to play as a community. It’s now the UK’s biggest gaming festival – and it will be taking place in the same very same building as RuneFest, just a few steps away.

RuneFest will be its own separately ticketed event, so while only RuneFest ticket holders will be able to attend RuneFest, as a RuneFest ticket holder, you also get weekend access to Insomnia!

What Can I Do At Insomnia?

While RuneFest is its own separate experience, there’s plenty to see at Insomnia too!

  • 2024 marks the 25th year of Insomnia the Gaming Festival – that’s a quarter of a century bringing the community together!
  • Socialise with other gamers, attend panel sessions, meet your favourite content creators, compete in tournaments, and enjoy a packed schedule of on stage entertainment.
  • Check out the exhibitors’ latest games – from big companies to indie studios.
  • Get nostalgic in retro gaming zones, see (or show off your own) amazing cosplay, and shop at the massive gaming marketplace.

How Much Is RuneFest – And How Do I Buy?

RuneFest Tickets will be £175 for the two-day event, with an early bird price of £150 for the first 500 ticket purchases!

Tickets will go on sale March 27th at midday GMT.

RuneFest Tickets also include access to the three-day Insomnia Festival within the ticket price, plus a goodie bag packed with loot to commemorate your attendance!

What If I Can’t Go?

We’d love to see you at RuneFest, and hopefully there’s a chance in the future if you can’t make it this year!

It’s really important to us to include as many people in the experience as possible, so expect a RuneFest Livestream where we’ll do as much as we can to capture some of the event’s magic and bring it home to you.

Five long years… what can we say, we’ve missed you all! We’re so excited to see RuneFest 2024 becoming a reality, and we hope you’ll join us this September for the world’s greatest RuneScape party!

The Old School Team.
