Method #1:
Blast Furnace Gold
Description: Use the smithing cape perk to wear ice gloves and goldsmith gauntlets at the same time. Make sure there is 27 bars in the dispenser before starting, otherwise the animation for withdrawing bars will be cancelled and slow you down. Also, without the 27 starting bars in the dispenser, your 27 new bars will smelt before you get to the south side of the dispenser, which you don’t want. Run to the south side of the dispenser to allow the bars to smelt so that you can take out 28. If the conveyor belt breaks, take out 1 bar on the way to depositing more ores. If there is 28 bars left in the dispenser you won’t be able to deposit any more. Pre-99 take a Ice glove/goldsmith gauntlet switch. Wield Ice gloves to withdraw bars and equip goldsmith gauntlets as soon as you withdraw bars.
Note: this section was written before the ring of endurance was released; keeping one charged and equipped one will make the stamina potions you have with you last longer.
Xp rate: 425k/hr max, 400k/hr long term.
Runner Example: For increased exp/hr you can do this method with a runner. The runner can be controlled by an other player, or by you.

Method #2:
Description: Smithing 3 bar rune items at either Prif anvil or Varrock West. Rune 2h’s are normally the best profit. You can use the cc “w308 anvil” to find buyers who bulk buy 2h’s for alching. “Using” the bar on the anvil instead of left clicking the anvil will save you 1 tick every inventory. This is worth doing for a slight increase in xp/hr. Very afk so great chance to make some money playing alts if you need too. Prif anvil is 2 ticks faster per lap than Varrock, so is worth using if you have it unlocked.
Xp rate: 215k/hr

Method #3:
Platebody Smithing:
Description: Smithing platebodies is a good alternative to gold for pre-99 training. It’s more afk and normally cheaper. You will be running a lot so wear full graceful and have stamina pots ready to go. “Using” the bar on the anvil instead of left clicking the anvil will save you 1 tick every inventory. This is worth doing for a slight increase in xp/hr. Prif anvil is 2 ticks faster per lap than Varrock, so is worth using if you have it unlocked.
Note: this section was written before the ring of endurance was released; keeping one equipped with more than 500 charges will negate the need for any stamina potions.
Xp rate: 250k-260k/hr~ (Adamant plates)
Xp rate depends on which anvil you use

Method #4: Giant’s Foundry
Xp/Hr: 220k/hr with 18 mith/10 addy – 290k/hr with 14 addy/14 rune
Description:
Requirements: Sleeping Giants Quest (ice gloves)
Giants’ Foundry is a smithing minigame that offers decent xp/h but should only be done to get the outfit if you plan on doing anvil smithing. Blast furnace gold is always faster, cheaper and less effort. Adamant platebodies with the outfit is similar in xp/h as Giant’s Foundry but also cheaper and a lot easier.
When going for just the outfit it is slightly more efficient to get the 5 best moulds or all moulds first, since the xp increase per sword makes up for the extra time spent getting the moulds. (compared to adamant plates w/ outfit)
See this spread sheet to see how much time it takes to get the outfit or full log and how many bars you will need.

Before starting, go to the plugin hub on RuneLite and download the “Easy Giant’s Foundry” plugin.
To begin, get a commission from Kovac, and set the mould to maximise the total score. Fill the crucible with metal bars/items and pour the mould.
You must keep the temperature within the appropriate range as you use each machine to maintain the sword’s quality. Pay attention to the numbers displayed by the plugin and you should never make mistakes.
Red = Trip Hammer
Yellow = Grindstone
Green = Polishing Wheel
Once you complete the sword, hand it to Kovac for xp and rewards.
Notes Using a mixture of two different metals give better xp than only using a single metal. The best combination for XP is to use 14 addy and 14 rune. The best combination for GP/XP is to use 18 mithril and 10 addy.
When the progress bar turns yellow, click again once on the machine, which will give a large progress boost. You will always get this 3 times per sword.
