Winner & Retrospective
On Saturday the Deadman Invitational reached its conclusion and the 6 day event came to an end. We’ve looked over the logs and can now confirm the winner of the $10,000 prize!
The Final Three
Since the conclusion of the tournament we have taken a close look at all of the logs from the final hour. We’ve been able to discount all of the players who finished illegitimately and can now confirm the final three Deadmen to fall.
1st place – YaNeverLearn – Died at 19:28:19
2nd place – RRobert – Died at 19:28:08
3rd place – Bottom 0f TS – Died at 19:28:06
Using a well-stocked inventory and excellent timing, YaNeverLearn was able to tank out the fog for quite a bit longer than any other player (11 seconds). Congratulations on being the winner of the first ever Deadman Invitational and $10,000!
With an amazing 6 days running up to the final hour and a whopping 55,000+ people watching during the final hour, the Deadman Invitational was the largest RuneScape stream ever (by quite a margin)!
If one thing is clear following the Deadman Invitational it is that competitions like these are something the Old School community are passionate about!
With that said, we need to make some big changes for future tournaments. This was our first attempt at a tournament of this nature and it has been a great learning experience for us. We are confident that the next Deadman Invitational will be bigger and better!
Feedback & Improvements
We’ve seen a huge amount of feedback from the community and want you to know that all of it has been heard. Discussions are already under way to decide what changes we will be making for the next tournament and how we will overcome the problems we experienced.
Here are a few of the key pieces of feedback we have received and will be addressing for the next tournament:
Slow start – the fog progressed too slowly at the start.
Fast end – the fog was far too deadly at the end. The final fight should be just that, a fight!
Random events – prevent players surviving inside them.
Stream quality – odd colours will not be a problem in future streams.
Stream delay – future events will use a delay to protect player locations.
Clarify the details – provide more specifics on how the final hour will progress.
The above, and much more, will be addressed before the next Deadman Invitational.
If you would like to share your thoughts on the tournament with us, please do not hesitate. We will be paying close attention to what the community has to say so we can make the next Deadman Invitational something truly special!
